When Plans Change: Finding Meaning in the Unexpected
I want to welcome everyone who takes a few minutes of their time to read the July issue of the Artistic Visions newsletter.
June did not go as I had planned; everything that could go wrong did go wrong, and to make matters worse, I twisted my ankle on the way home from one of my hikes, which has completely changed my plans for the summer.
Since my ankle will be in a cast for at least three weeks, and after that it will still take another month or two to fully heal, I think I will spend most of the summer indoors.
However, every situation has its advantages and disadvantages—the difference lies in how we choose to look at things.
I often compare life to a great hike: we set out, and as we move forward, all kinds of things happen to us. The terrain often changes—sometimes it’s very easy, and sometimes we have to climb steep mountains or descend into deep valleys. The weather is also often unpredictable; sometimes the sun shines, other times it rains, or the wind blows. But still, we keep going—we don’t give up.
Life is much the same: sometimes everything goes well, sometimes not so well, and yet we keep moving forward, no matter what happens.
The main thing is to try to look at things positively.
I believe in the Creator. In the Creator who guides everything, and I also believe that things don’t happen without reason. Every event has its purpose, even if at the moment it seems incomprehensible or even unjust. In the long run, we can see that everything is in its place.
I think I will spend the next few weeks searching through and retouching the files that have been sitting on my computer for months, and I will have more time to write, which I have somewhat neglected lately. And perhaps luck will find its way back to me—who knows…
Until next month,Csaba
